Capita sign 10 year contract with Southampton City Council

Capita announces that it has signed a 10 year strategic partnership contract with Southampton City Council. The contract is valued at approximately £290 million.

Capita will deliver a range of services for the Council including human resources and payroll, customer services, IT, procurement, property management and the processing of council tax and benefit claims. To support the delivery of key services, 650 Council employees will begin to TUPE transfer to Capita on 1 October.

Paul Pindar, Chief Executive of Capita, said: “We look forward to working in partnership with Southampton City Council, and share their vision and commitment to transform public services in a way that truly benefits the local community."

Councilor Jeremy Moulton, Cabinet Member for Resources, said:
This partnership with Capita will make it possible for the Council to save the taxpayer millions of pounds over the term of the contract; money which can be put back into front line services. This is a positive way forward for the Council and the City.”

Capita previously announced that it has been selected as preferred partner by Southampton City Council on 22 March 2007.
