Capita Local Government Services today announced that it has been reselected by Havant Borough Council to administer and collect the Council’s revenues and benefits services. The contract is for a minimum period of four years with an option to extend for a further three, making the potential contract value approximately £14m.
Under the new contract, which begins in October 2006, Capita will work closely with Havant to deliver high quality, best value services with a strong emphasis on customer services. Capita will enhance processing timescales for benefit claims and will broaden the range of online services available to citizens including e-billing.
The partnership will also see Capita increasing home visits and providing visiting officers with mobile tablet PCs, enabling them to view customers’ details in their homes. Capita, which was selected by Havant following a competitive bid, has worked with the Council since 1998.
Nigel Smith, Head of Resources for Havant Borough Council, said, “We’re delighted to be building on our strong relationship with Capita. Capita’s bid represented the best value for money for the Council and promised delivery of quality services for Havant’s residents. This partnership places Havant at the forefront in meeting the efficiency targets set out in the Gershon recommendations.”
Mark Chapman, Director of Capita Local Government Services, said, “We are looking forward to extending our relationship with Havant. Capita has vast experience in delivering a range of revenue and benefits services for over 35 local authority clients across the UK. We are confident that we can deliver quality services to Havant along with sustained service improvements for its citizens.”
