19 Oct 2006 - Capita selected by Swindon Borough Council as preferred bidder for strategic partnership

The Capita Group Plc (Capita) announces that it has been selected as preferred bidder by Swindon Borough Council to develop a ten-year incremental strategic partnership worth approximately £140 million.

Capita will deliver a wide range of services including customer services, IT, property and the administration of HR, payroll and finance, with revenues and benefits from April 2008. Final negotiations are currently in progress with the contract expected to commence in early December 2006.

The strategic partnership will involve the TUPE transfer of approximately 350 staff from the Council to Capita. Residents and businesses will benefit from the development of a new contact centre and a ‘one stop shop’, which will become the first point of contact for all services the council offers.

Paul Pindar, Chief Executive of Capita, said: “We are very pleased to have been selected as preferred bidder by the Council. We will draw on our extensive experience of transforming public services across local government to ensure that the Council and the local community truly benefit from this partnership. Local government remains an important and active market for Capita.”
