Capita has partnered with Bexley Council since 1994 on the collection and administration of their revenues and benefits. In 2005, we competitively won the contract to continue working with Bexley and as part of this ongoing relationship, Capita LGS have agreed to invest £35,000 per year for 10 years on community projects to bolster the Council's 14 to 19 strategy. Mark Chapman, Director of Capita LGS said: ‘We wanted to honour our 10 year relationship with Bexley and contribute to programmes that would make a difference to the youth in Bexley.’
The projects that Capita support include:
- PE and School Sports in Bexley – an initiative to recruit additional trained coaches to provide better training opportunities for PE staff and to provide a career structure for coaches through part-time contracts.
- Excellence in Work Experience Awards - an initiative to honour the achievements of young people aged 14-16 on work experience through sponsorship of the Bexley Education Business Partnership and prizes at all secondary school prize days.
- Learning and Mentoring Programme – an initiative to raise literacy, numeracy, computer and personal skills in 9-13 year-olds. The project involves collaborating with Charlton Athletic FC football coaches to use football to encourage learning, providing football skills training as rewards, and hosting a ‘Celebration of Success Day’ for students and parents.
“Bexley Council is delighted that Capita LGS has chosen to sponsor three community projects aimed at supporting Bexley's 14 - 19 strategy to help young people receive the very best training and education possible.”
Mike Ellsmore, Assistant Director (Audit, Technical and Exchequer)
