Cancer Research UK

Cancer Research UKCancer Research UK is the world's leading independent organisation dedicated to cancer research. They support research into all aspects of cancer through the work of more than 4,250 scientists, doctors and nurses.

In 2006-07 LGS staff chose to support Cancer Research UK and a target of raising £10,000 was set. The £10,000 that was raised (and exceeded) resulted in our staff being responsible for making a massive difference to Cancer Research UK and the people they look after.

As is always the case with our kind hearted staff in LGS this was an amount that they set their sights on and were going to reach and ultimately conquer. No matter what they had to endure or what personal embarrassment they had to go through they were determined to hit this target!

And hit it they certainly did… here are a few examples of what our staff organised to raise funds for Cancer Research UK:

Staff in Havant organised a charity evening and even managed to get a well known local band to play free of charge. Jumpstarts, played amazingly, had everyone up jumping and dancing and rocked the house! This raised £734 alone and was a great effort.

Other activities that took place when raising money for Cancer Research UK were Bingo, where a professional caller from Mecca gave up his time to help, head, leg shaving and leg waxing for some very brave men across LGS, managers having to be slaves for an hour at a time and sleigh rides round the office. Can you imagine what passers by must have thought?
