2004 IRRV Performance Awards
Best New Initiative: Edinburgh City Council in partnership with Capita Local Government Services
Capita and Edinburgh City Council received the IRRV’s Performance Award in 2004 for The Best New Initiative award for our ground-breaking partnership. Since the partnership was formed in May 2003, Capita has successfully supported the Council’s Revenues and Benefits Division during a major modernisation programme. This included a radical overhaul of its Revenues and Benefits service delivery, replacement of existing legacy mainframe computer systems and an introduction of an Electronic Document Management System. Capita provided up to 45 staff to supplement Edinburgh staff, all fully trained in council tax and benefits legislation, and importantly, familiar with both the old and new computer system.
This resource was managed offsite and could be responsive to either increased or decreased demand without placing any additional pressure on Edinburgh’s senior staff who were already fully committed with initiating the ambitious change project in hand.
Mike Peterson, Head of Revenues and Benefits for Edinburgh City Council said: “We are delighted to have received the award which is recognition of the effort of both parties in delivering an innovative approach to change management.”
Excellence in Education, Training & Development: Capita Local Government Services Capita won the Excellence in Education & Development award at the 2004 IRRV Performance Awards for our underlying commitment to training and development. Capita’s centralised Assessment Policy & Training team (APT) provides functional support for Capita’s Revenues and Benefits sites, in addition to training and consultancy services to over 70 local authority clients.
Mark Chapman, Director of Capita Local Government Services, commented: “We’re very proud to have won these awards. They demonstrate the commitment and expertise of our employees who have ultimately worked to make Capita the success it is today.”
At the inaugural National Outsourcing Association Awards (NOA) in 2004, Capita Group Plc was named as Best BPO Outsourcing Services Provider. The award was gained by Capita for its ability to clearly demonstrate that the company delivers on its objectives, identifies a tangible return on investment for its customers and applies innovation to its implementation process. As such, Capita is firmly established as the UK’s leading organisation in outsourcing, working in many ways across both the public and private sectors to shape the market through best practice.
Martyn Hart, chairman of the NOA, said: "The NOA was thrilled to award Best BPO Outsourcing Service Provider to Capita for its infallible adherence to best practice in business process outsourcing. The NOA Awards are the next step in our endeavours to raise awareness of how crucial best practice in outsourcing is. We hope the awards will become a benchmark of outsourcing excellence and something all outsourcing companies will strive to achieve."
